„Welcome to Korea“:

The event of the "Soccer-world championship 2002", which took place in South Korea and Japan and the events around this internationallarge meeting was the reason for me to have a critical look at the topic: "Dogmeat as food". The consumption of the four-legged friends must be a moral challenge for alldog friends and call them for the protest.

The members of the Spanish national soccer team under the coach José Antonio Camacho were characterised by the fact that theydidn´t allow toprepare as delicacy an as delicacy offered, still living young dog in a Korean restaurant of Seoul in the year 2002, but adopted him freely awayfrom the place, baptized him Camacho and carried him into their homeland Spain later.

We would not have thoughtthat...

Even if the Spanish national team did not become world champion, then the players and their responsible persons have nevertheless morethan earned a "Dog-Award in Platinum"with their givenexample at respect for a dog´s life!

Before the beginning of the "Soccer-World-Championship" the "World Soccer Federation" FIFA intervened against dog battles at the governmentof the South Korea.Animal-protector from twelve asiatic countries brought a common campaign against the consumption of dog meat in the South Korea on the way. These animal-protetor came from the countries: " Taiwan, China, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand,Nepal, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh!" The criticism of animal-protectors and the "World Soccer Federation" FIFA had encountered furious protests by South Korean lovers of dog meat - because of an allegedly thousands of years oldKorean custom. The South Korean FIFA vice-president Chung Mong Joon himself asked for the interference of the FIFA. Dog meat applies in South Korea as delicacy and potency means. South Korean owners of restaurant have started a campaign fordog-meat-delicate meals after receipt of the Petition of the animal-protectors.Speaker of the owners of restaurants and one of the supervisors of the campaign dog meat isdelicacy is a South Korean university teacher, "Professor Ahn Yong Geun", food-expert of the Chungyong university, also known in South Korea as "DoctorDogmeat".

Complete dog-meat-markets live from sales of bred or partly stolen dogs, which are offered alive or cruelly massacered by dog-butchers.In the asiatic countries this is as natural, as in Europe the trade with chickens -, ducks -, goose-, lamb- and cattle- or porkmeat.

For the meat consumption the "Meat-dogs" are bred in special dog farms under unhygienic and painful conditions in miserable and much tosmall and dirty cages, without any run.

"There cannot be told any word about species-worthy holding"!

As is told, there should be 6.000 restaurants in South Korea, in which-dog-meat meals are offered!

According to experts in South Korea annually three million dogs are slaughtered. Besides however miserably fit dogs - helpless creatures - which are obviously stolen domestic animals are to be seen on the markets. Approximately 100,000 tons each year are used on the average and thus the dog-meat ranks after cattle-, pig-, and chicken-meat on 4. place of South Korean meat consumption.

After chicken, cattle and pig the dog gives the most popular meat in Korea.

As an example of the international and professional dog-trade in South Korea I would like to quote the publications of Reuter, engl. 31.10. 1996 and The Mongol Messenger, 13. 11. 1996):

Quotation start:
"A South Koreanimporting company rejected the purchase of frozen Mongolian dog-meat, because the required price of 0,50 US-Dollar per Kilo was too high. The South Korean importer hadoffered 0.20 US-Dollar per Kilo for the desired titbits of the south Koreans. The Mongolian company Noets shoots about 60 straying dogs per day. Their skin is converted to coats and car seats in a native factory, most ofwhich are sold to Russian customers in Ulan Bator. Earlier the Mongolian government and the health authorities had already made doubts valid against the export of the dog-meat, since a veterinaryexamination - according to international hygiene regulations - is not possible in Mongolia at the moment. China and Russia had forbidden the transit of the supplies through their territory for the same reason. The number of straying dogs in Mongoliawas estimated to 120.000".

Abhor-worthy is the brutal manner of the dog butchers in South Korea, who torment, yestorture dogs - intelligent natures - as painfully and slowly as possible before slaughtering, so that their meat becomes completely interspersed with hormones and this way becomes to be an aphrodisiacum. The hormones Adrenaline, Apomorphine, and Histamine are stress hormones, which remain, due to slaughtering, in the animal body. The more the animal is tormented in the cruelest way, the more tender and the more aphrodising the dog-meat is ment to become!

That is a widely spread, however a decissive error!

There are evidencies for the fact that one cuts traditionally the tongues of the dogs, hang them at steel loops, slowly and gradually tightening the loops and beatingthereby the creatures with cudgels in order to kill them after an endless death fight and under huge fear of death by means of electrical shock.

"There cannot be any word of animal-fair slaughtering"!

In the sense of my family-friendly page http://www.shar pei I must point out expressly that the responding photoaccommodations are NOT SUITABLE FOR THE EYES OF CHILDREN! These Fotos - as authentic evidences - are to be seen under the link "ITD-PHOTO". Copyright holds - "ITD - It`s Their Destiny"!

Many South Koreans don´t regard dogs as meat suppliers, but hold them also as domestic animals, as their most faithful friends.

For this reason the consumption of dog meat is criticised also in Korea. There are many opponents in South Korea, who violently actagainst the wretched holding of the dogs and the brutal slaughtering methods and fight for a type-fair holding as wellas for an animal-fair slaughtering. These Korean dog-friends and animal-protectors must be supported by us in their efforts.

Already before the olympic summer games in Seoul in 1988 the government of South Korea at that time announced - on international pressure - measures, which should be directed against the brutal slaughtering methods, without that on the part of theauthorities anything had been done up to the year 2002.

Again, under the large, world-wide pressure of the animal-protectors and different institutions, like e.g. also the world soccer federation "FIFA", the government of South Korea announced at thebeginning of 2002 steps against the proven brutal methods during the dog slaughtering. Also during and after this great event once again nothing had changed in the protection of the dogs in South Korea!

The opposite is the case.

We would not have thought that...
